I’m back! Happy New Year everyone! In these days of tivo, on demand, and dvr who really watches commercials anymore? I rarely see a commercial, and for the most part neither do my kids. The other day for some reason (we must have had live football on) I saw this ad and got all choked up. I LOVE it. It took me a while to do the research to find out what it was all about. I thought for sure it was supposed to be selling something. Nope, it is a really cool non-profit company called the Foundation for a Better life that simply spreads good messages. How awesome is that? When I looked at the website I fell in love. I am now going to sign up for their free daily quote and monthly newsletter. It seems hard to find good news in the media lately and this group only posts positive things.
Here are a few things I took from their site which I find really great:
Our sole objective is to promote positive values, using print and broadcast media.
We want the stories we share about the actions of others to inspire someone to do one thing a little better, and then pass on that inspiration. While a few individuals living values-based lives seems small, collectively they will make the world a better place.
Since this is what Chickatees is all about I have decided to share this link with you for my first post in 2010. Enjoy.

Do you need a gift for someone in your life who inspires you? Your child’s teacher? A Graduate? Even your mom…..anyone, really. My friend Katy from Asip Ink made some notecards to go along with my Inspire shirts. I have cream colored flat cards (no envelope) that would be perfect in a set so you can have all kids in the class write a message, punch a hole in the corner, tie it around the tee with raffia – SO CUTE! Or I have individual cards on the brown paper that fold over and have an envelope if you just want to send a positive message to someone yourself.

To purchase simply choose the women’s tab. Once you have selected your size and color there will be an options tab. Click there and it will prompt you to choose what you want! I currently only have a limited supply so get your orders in fast. They really are beautiful, and a unique gift!

We have always been told Ford is photogenic. Both of my boys are handsome of course, but Ford photographs really well. So, when I received something in the mail from Koo Koo Bear Kids saying that they were looking for the next model for their catalog and all you had to do was come in the store and have your child’s picture taken by James Hill Photography – for FREE I jumped right on it. He was not so excited to do it, and I don’t think the picture is his best. However, if he gets picked it could be really good for us financially. So, please take a minute to click on this link and cast your vote. All you have to do is enter a comment! Thanks so much in advance.

As parents we pray that our children will make the right choices. We teach them to “do the right thing”. We try to set a good example. I find that my efforts pay off when I talk to their teachers, or their friends parents. When I hear of how they handled certain situations without me there to help them make decisions. The following story is about my best friends six year old son, Parker. I know she must be proud.
Parker and two of his classmates were coming out of the library and spotted a $100 bill. They immediately brought it to their teacher who asked if they ever thought about keeping it. They children said that it did not belong to them so they wanted to turn it in. The teacher nominated them for the Lee County “Do the Right Thing” award and they were honored by the sheriff’s department and received letters from Congressman Connie Mack and Senator Bill Nelson.

I am not sure my six year old would have turned it in. I think this is very impressive.
