Team Carter finished the MS Walk yesterday, our first beautiful weather day in weeks. We had more kids on the team this year which was a lot of fun. Despite tougher times fundraising this year, we are currently ranked the 5th team. Thanks to all who paricipated and for all of your support.

Sandy Springs CityCouncilWoman Ashley Jenkins, who happens to be one of my best friends, throwing out the first pitch at her daughter’s softball game wearing Chickatees newest design “Inspire”. The shirts are very cool – my favorite so far. And Ashley is definitely one who inspires.

First of all, for those of you who were reading my blog, I apologize for disappearing for a while there. Times are crazy right now, and I just haven’t been feeling like I had a whole lot positive to say. And that is what it is all about here at Chickatees. Today, however,I do have something really cool to share with you.
My parents were here this past weekend and my mom took me shopping. Isn’t she the best? I am 36 years old and she still ENJOYS buying me clothes. We had a lot of fun. We went to Ann Taylor Loft because I love that store, and I love their sales. When we checked out they put a flyer in our bag that says this “we’ll help you find the perfect fit” LOFT and Goodwill Industries invite you to donate your gently-worn pants to charity and save $15 on a new pair March 2-8″. It excludes denim.
I am all about doing things for others and donating when I can. And these days in particular I am all about saving money. How cool to be rewarded for donating something other than just for the tax write-off! I had to share. Go to their website for more details.

I have to share this company Ice Cream Shop Designs with you. I did several craft shows this fall selling my Chickatees products. There are so many creative women out there selling lots of cool, hand made items. I really like these dresses in particular. Obviously, in my house with two boys there is no need for me to be buying any, but if I had girls I would buy one of everything she makes. The owner, Gwen Leonard, is a mom at the school my oldest attends. She handmakes each item. The best part – they are affordable. Check out her website to see for yourself. She has super cute little beach cover ups for girls, and while it is freezing outside summer is right around the corner. Would also be a great gift!

I have MS. I was diagnosed 4 years ago. I have relapse-remitting MS which means I have “attacks” or “relapses” periodically. There is no cure for MS and it is a progressive disease. I formed a team in 2005 for the MS Walk Atlanta and we have walked every year and raised almost $70,00 dollars. Please visit my personal page on the MS Website to learn more and to show your support. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

I have a friend whose niece has cancer. She is 8 years old. She lives in Indiana. I met her briefly over 2 years ago when she was in town visiting. She is adorable and full of life. I feel like I know her and her spirit is unbelievable. Her name is Tatum and she has an organization to help other children with cancer. It is called Tatum’s Bags of Fun. I can’t imagine being this unselfish. I think I would feel so sorry for myself that I couldn’t do something like this. I am glad that there is someone who can and is. Please visit the link above and read her story yourself. If nothing else it will inspire you. And remember when you read this that she is 8! God Bless you Tatum.
