The Shack

Have you read this book yet? Have you heard about it? I received this as a gift from my husband for Christmas. I couldn’t put it down. It is a must read in my opinion.

Not that I am a book critic or anything but I just have to share my recommendation.  It is a great book for anyone. The Shack by William P. Young. Go get it – use your gift card you got for Christmas.

Not Oprah

I want to share a website I found recently.  First let me tell you how I got there.  I really can’t stand wasting time on the computer.  I would rather catch up on my Tivo’d shows, or read a book, or even a gossip magazine than “surf the net”.  I just get lost and all of the sudden a lot of time has flown by.  I have, like many of you I am sure, become a fan of Facebook.  It is amazing how many people of all ages are connecting thru this website.  I get a little annoyed by the status updates, talking in the third person bugs me, and sometimes I think it seems narcissistic to think other people really care what you are doing 5 times a day.  Frankly, I often wonder what people really are doing – it seems to me they are spending an awful lot of time of Facebook instead of what they say they are doing.  I digress….

What I do like about Facebook is that it connects us with people from our past and people far away.  I connected with an old friend of mine from High School.  She moved away when we were sophomores and we completely lost touch.  Somehow we became “friends” on Facebook.  She and a friend of hers run a website called Not Oprah (nothing against the woman, but we can’t all be Oprah, there is only one!) designed to inspire other women.  I spent some time reading the recipes, parenting tips, organizing tips etc yesterday and it was very useful.  Even made me laugh.  And she isn’t selling anything!  Here is a little more about it in her words:

Being a Mom is a Nobel Profession, but one that often goes unnoticed. Moms oftentimes feel like they have left themselves somewhere in the life they had before they entered this thing called “childrearing”. It is as if womanhood morphs into motherhood (you were a woman and now you are a mother). We would like to challenge and affirm you with the assurance and the reality you can be both successfully! First, please know that we are NOT anti-oprah…it is just a funny title…We are for moms…we are not selling anything, we just desire moms to refer to our site and find ideas, encouragement, resources, and a laugh or two along the way.

Why am I telling you about this?  Because I think it is a resource worth sharing.  I printed out two of the chicken recipes yesterday and I can’t wait to try them.  When I do I will let you know!  And if you are looking for some good tips, inspiration, or just a laugh from another good woman you should check it out when you have time to spend on the computer….it won’t be time wasted.

Merry Christmas!

What a good looking family.  A good friend of mine bought the Merry and Bright for her sister in Florida and her nephew, Comfort and Joy.  This was their Christmas card this year – I love it.  Thanks for sharing!

Breakfast with Santa

These beautiful children wore their Merry and Bright shirts to their breakfast with Santa.  I hear that Santa really liked them.

Thanks for the picture!

I love it!

First and foremost, the mother of these children might be the kindest calmest person I have ever met.  I don’t know how she does it.  Her husband travels for work and she has 4 kids ranging in age from 11 to less than 2.  And by the way, I know these children and they are all sweet kids and very well behaved.  WHAT am I doing WRONG?

Anyway, look at how cute they are in their Christmas clothes – the girls are wearing Merry and Bright Chickatees shirts and I just love it!

Thanks Allison for sharing -it made my day and for you: twenty percent off you next order!

Adorable

These sweet girls are best friends and are in Kindergarten with my son.  One of their moms took this picture of two of them at school yesterday!  Aren’t they precious?

Please send me pictures – remember it will give you twenty percent off your next order.
