I have been doing local “gift shows” to sell Chickatees shirts.  I have seen these awesome bracelets made by a local woman and recently read her story.  I love hearing about other people doing something good for others and I had to share her story. Read below.  You can also learn more or place on order by visiting her site.

About WTR Memory Beads

WTR Memory Beads, Inc. was launched to honor the memory of Lt. Col. Joseph“Trane” McCloud, my dear cousin and one of our country’s fallen heroes.  Trane, an operations officer with the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment paid the ultimate price to secure our freedom when his helicopter crashed in Iraq on December 3, 2006.

A man of deep character and honor, Trane gave his life doing what he loved.  While our family grieves deeply for this loss, the courage of his wife Maggie and their three children, ages 8, 6, and 2 yrs. have inspired all of us.

WTR Memory Beads is a way to honor Trane’s sacrifice. Ten percent of all sales will be donated to The McCloud Family Fund and ten percent will be donated to groups supporting children of our fallen heroes.  Through this effort, I hope to not only help Trane’s children, but also ensure that his sacrifice will never be forgotten.

OK everyone – I have chosen my Holiday themed shirts and they are so cute I can’t take it.  I LOVE them and I know you will too.

In doing this, I realized I should probably order some of the other designs in long sleeved.  Times are tough (for everyone, I know) right now though and I can’t order too much.  So, I am taking a vote for color selection.  IF I order some of my current designs/phrases on long sleeved t-shirts, what color or colors do you think would be best?  Not just what you like best,  but what you think would sell the most?  The font on all of the shirts except love and gratitude is a chocolate brown.  On love and gratitude it is a creamy khaki.  Just click here to go to the website that my shirts come from and view the colors they offer.

The first 5 votes I get will receive $5 off a Holiday shirt of their choice.  I have really cute kids and ladies on order.  To vote, please click on comment and vote in the comment field.

Thanks for your help.

Message tee shirts are a good thing, as long as the message is not a negative one.  In GLAMOUR’S Big Book of DO’s and DON’TS“if you wouldn’t say it to your neice, DON’T say it on your shirt”.  I agree wholeheartedly.

In an earlier post I mentioned the “Life is Crap” shirts.  A friend of mine was at the LA Apparel Mart recently and called me today to say she saw those there.  We both wonder if they sell.  I have never seen anyone wearing one.   I also have seen some t-shirts that just say things I don’t know how a person feeling comfortable wearing.  To each his own, I guess, but for now I encourage you to only buy and wear things that say something that you could say to your niece, your child or your mom.  And Chickatees shirts would meet this criteria!

This is from a customer who lives in Florida who received the Grin and Giggle shirt as a gift.  I love hearing some positive feedback.
The shirt is wonderfully soft and light – great for hot Florida summers!

Can a Gator and a Bulldog be friends?

Well, yes they can!  We are too old to really be saying that we don’t like someone simply because of the college they went to and subsequently the football team they cheer for.  And, as I move through life I am surprised to find how some people are so set in their ways.  They argue vehemently about poltics, religion, raising children and economics, to name a few.  We are not old enough to be so stubborn.  Shouldn’t we teach our children about their right to decide, to make intelligent decisions? That we learn about life more each day, and that it is okay to change your mind?

I don’t know, I don’t claim to be some super smart well informed woman.  However, I do hear lots of conversations about all of the things I mentioned above and more.  There are times I want to scream at people “Do you HEAR yourself?”  People get so fired up and think that they already know everything and the way they believe is the ONLY way.   I try my best to hear every side of every story.  I mean, I can only be better by understanding more, right?

Anyway, this photo is of two very intelligent, funny, and successful men who LOVE their alma maters with a passion that I will never understand.  But here they are approaching 40 – so young, and enjoying each other’s company, and the things that they do have in common.

It is my husband and his friend, our neighbor, my friends husband.  I guess my friend and husband.  Bottom line, we do like each other.  Despite our differences and because of our beliefs.  I do not believe that being a “Seminole” or a “Republican” is part of my title.  I think we all have beliefs and morals, and we have a right to live by those.  But, as Americans, I think we should choose to accept each other, you might learn something!
